I ruined the surface of my flat iron! How can I fix it?!?!?

Okay, I saw this thing in a hair book about making “blades” with your hair…..spritzing a small strand with hair spray and flat ironing it. Well, I did that to my whole head (It looked awsome, by the way!!) but now there is burnt hairspray cemented onto my iron!! I can’t get it off for anything!! CAn you help me please!!!!!

Pour rubbing alcohol onto a small towel and wipe away! After that rinse with water and dry well.
