A good Food processor?

Is there a food processor or device that will dice up roma tomatoes for salsa without making mush?

I have the same problem with cutting up fresh basil. I either get mush or whole leaves that are uncut.

Use a series of quick pulses until you get the right consistency. Turning it on and letting it run will give you mush.

Making hummus without a food proccesor – any good?

I’d really like to make some hummus at home, but my problem is that I haven’t got a food processor (or blender, or any similar device) – just a mortar and pestle.

So, my question is, can decent hummus be made without a food processor (just by mashing it)?

Yes it can, with a bowl and a fork, I would do half a can of garbanzo beans at a time to make sure you are mashing all the beans. It will still have more texture than making it in a food processor, but texture is a good thing in my book.
