Why are there white spots on stainless steel, 2 quarts of pot? I just boiled water for pasta?

It's a whole new pan – or Fabreware Faberware I think. Stainless Steel – no copper, glass, iron or whatever other materials they use. I boiled water on an electric stove for the pasta. When I finished, there were white patches on the inside bottom of the pan, mostly in a circle near the outer wall of the pan. Did I break the boiling water?
