can the son of the heavy electrical (commonly used for trimmers and blowers) withstand being outside in the rain?

I need another outlet in my room and I think running a heavy wire (about 25 feet long) through my window one in my room .. my question is. is whether it is safe to leave the wire running to the back of my house when it rains? Someone son knows the outdoors you normally use for electric trimmers, blowers, etc. can withstand rain when it is used?
