Is a Kitchenaid mixer the same thing as a Cuisinart food processor?

My husband says they are and that I need to pick just one.

Nope. They are very different, and also very different in cost.

A cusinart food processor really only performs one task well… slicing up food into smaller pieces.
The Kitchenaid mixer has many attachments that allow you to not only mix things, but also perform pretty much the same functions as a food processor, a pasta maker, a fruit/vegetable strainer, a meat grinder, a sausage maker, etc..

My wife and I have both, however we only really ever use the Kitchenaid mixer.

I do cake decorating and make a lot of icings. You really cannot whip buttercream up light enough for decorating without a stand mixer.
For all the rest of the mixing it just makes it easier to do with the Kitchen Aid than by hand. I never mix anything by hand any more.
Cakes, cookies, breads, pancake batter, meringues, puddings, make cookie crumbs, graham cracker crumbs, whipped cream, …..
I don’t use mine for mashed potatoes though because I think it makes them too creamy, it breaks the potato fibers down too much and they taste like baby food.

You have a few options.

The best one is to bypass the zone. This would have to be done everytime you arm before you leave. And the steps to enter in your keypad would all depend on what type of system you have. You can either check your user manual to find out the steps for bypassing for call your monitoring station. But do you have pet proof motions? The company I work for mostly installs pet proof motions which don’t recognize a certain weight. This can also be found out through your monitoring station. But depening on what type of dog you have when he gets bigger this solution may not work as motions pick up medium-large size dogs.

Do not duct tape it! Lol. The motion would constantly recognize something in front of it and you would not be able to arm your system.

Your other option is to ask your monitoring station or a service technician to null the zone out. This isn’t the best idea because it would just be like the motion does not exist in that room. But it is an option.

Find out if you have pet proof motions, then you won’t have to worry about it. If not, just bypass the zone each time before you arm to leave your home. Its quite simple.
