Food processor question? I bought a sunbeam le chef at a thrift store and the blade goes around silently and?

quickly, but when I tried to make cranberry relish by putting fresh cranberries and quartered apple and quartered orange with the peel on, it just turned to mush. It seemed to be stirring rather than cutting. Is this a dull blade, slow turning motor or asking too much of the food processor. Is it worth trying to get it repaired? I have a blade and a plastic stirring blade (I guess for bread making?). I like that the motor is quiet.
It doesn’t seem to pulse, only run continuous.

Actually I think you are experiencing the results of a good food processor. Try pulsing the blade or use some other type of cutting or chopping tool. The problem you are experiencing would be equivalent to trying to chop tomatoes in a food processor to make pica de gallo.

What’s freezable when making baby food?

I’m choosing to make my own babyfood for my daughter and would like to work smarter and not harder! I’ve invested in freezing trays with lids and a good food processor. I’ve been successful in freezing vegetables but I wanted to know if it’s safe to freeze pureed pasta, meat, fruit, cereal, etc. Also, I sometimes add cereal to vegetable purees to make it a little thicker. Can I freeze that mixture? Hopefully there’s a few moms out there who’ve already done the “trial and error” part of this and could pass along the wisdom! Thanks in advance!

Hi,
1st- you can go get some ice cube trays and freeze in those too. They are perfect because they are one ounce exactly, and as soon as they are frozen throw them in a freezer bag, label it w/ date, and expiration date. Easy. Microwave 20 seconds and you have 1 serving.

Ok
Veggie Purees- 6 months
Fruit Purees- 6 months
Purees with milk- 2 months
cooked fish- 3 months
cooked meat- 3 months

It is so easy, and inexpensive. I loved it. She liked the taste of the food so much better than jars too. If you have any more questions feel free to email. My daughter is 2 now, so we’re past the baby food, but I think I remember most of it.

Also, you should be fine freezing the cereal when it is added, or just add it after you thaw the food.
