food processor pie crust butter

Can I make pumpkin pie crust without using a food processor?

Last time I used my $45 blender and ended up making a massive mess. The butter ended up caking to the bottom and freezing the thing up… very frustrating!

Now I’m making it again and I used the whisk on my kitchenaid stand mixer (even though I know I’m not supposed to but what was I to do?) and my “dough” was really crumbly and didn’t stick together very well. I stuck it in the fridge to cool anyways, and so here I wait.

Have I set myself up for UN-success?

I don’t use an electric tool for making pie crust. I just cut the butter into the flour mix using a fork.
