Deceptively Delicious and Food Processor?

I bought a cookbook to cook with more veggies and most of the recipes call for purees. I love the idea but last night I attempted my first puree. I only needed one sweet potato to make hot chocolate so I roasted it and put the small amount in my blender, which is designed for smoothies and larger quantities. The amount of sweet potato barely even came up to the actual metal blender (not sure of the exact title, the spinning part that blends). It said I could try adding a tablespoon or so of water but it still did nothing. I’m guessing it was just the blender size. Does anyone know of a good quality blender that will work with small quantities. In her book the magic bullet is recommended. I was a bit weary of it since I saw it on tv commercials but I saw it in Costco the other day so I thought perhaps it was good quality.

I understand your hesitance about the Magic bullet. My aunt swears by it, but I’m just not that thrilled.

There are a few options that cost even less than the magic bullet that are made by reputable companies;

The Cusinart Mini-Prep – I’ve had mine for years and it’s never failed. Also Cuisinart hasn’t changed the design which indicates to me they know they have a good product. You can find them for about 40 dollars from regular stores and you can occasionally find them for less on eBay, Overstock.com and Smartbargains.com.

Another option that I have is the Braun Multi Quick. It’s a handheld blender that comes with a food processor attachment. Not only will you be able to puree small amounts of food but you can make smoothies fast and easy, the smoothest soups and sauces and salad dressings that stay blended for days.

Just a note about this one, if you think you’ll need to process hot sauces on the stove…get a mixer with a metal blade housing. The Multi Quick is plastic and could melt in high temperatures, though I haven’t had a problem yet.

Pot Cover

making pot stickers – the coverage is too small frying pan?

I make pot stickers at this time in a skillet and it says to cover. The coverage I have is too small for the top of the stove, but it fits perfectly into the bottom of the pan. Is it acceptable for coverage to reach the bottom of the skillet over medium heat while? The water in the pan is semi-hot, but not quite. THANK YOU! and help quickly please!

just use a piece of foil to cover it, if you do not use paper made a microwave plate throughout the pan. Do not let the cover touch the inside of the pot, esp if the glass. ps the film is much better at what now I am gone for lunch? :)
